Andre Titcombe

The LCF graduate photographer creating order out of chaos

The last time we came across a London College of Fashion alumnus, we also found the cover photographer for our Issue Two; Yuvali Theis. It’s no surprise then, that with Andre Titcombe coming from the same class, we once again get to sample photography work of the highest order

Andre tells us that some of his favourite work is born out of indulging his quirky side, and letting the shoot develop naturally, and it’s this capricious yet considered approach that has produced some of the beautiful images below. Telling us of his hectic working process, we learn that he favours alternative methods of image manipulation and often finds living and working in a sea of tin foil and coke cans to give his work the eccentricity that is so pervasive throughout his portfolio.

In particular, a series entitled ‘Look At Me Please’, produced in collaboration with UCA Rochester student Bronwyn Stemp, stands out with its impressive colour palette and effortlessly striking aesthetic. Andre’s inventive nature reared it’s head once again, as this series was fairly experimental. He recalls “how nerve-wracking and difficult it was to try and get someone to work with you whilst you are a student”, and drew on the dynamism of the likes of Vivian Sassen and Jason Evans to guide the project.

The transition into the professional world has, like for so many of our Talents, provided a further test to Andre’s working process, thought process and editorial eye. Nevertheless, his adventurous ways will soon have him working with latex designer Sasha Louise, taking reference from Latino gang culture and aiming to revolutionise the almost exclusively sexual light latex is shown in. Words can’t do the breadth of Andre’s work justice, so make sure to check out his prolific portfolio as well as the images below.
